Not seeking to document geography, these photographs aim to capture a feeling of quiet insignificance; the markers of mankind are deliberately dwarfed by the sweeping scale of the Earth.

This relationship reached its conceptual peak for me high above the waters of Ullswater. Looking out towards an oncoming storm over the huge vista, I observed a tiny speck on the water below, a passenger ferry, carrying scores of human lives, making its final journey of the day. To the people on board, this ferry doubtless felt huge. But from my viewpoint, it had been reduced by the immense landscape to a nearly indistinguishable speck.
