‘You don’t know what you don’t know'!’
It was Tom who first uttered those words to me. I’d asked him what his motivation for booking a workshop was and that was his response. It was as succinct an answer as I could have hoped for and it’s bang on the money.
I put a heck of a lot of work into these photography workshops because they’re important. They aren’t generic and they don’t tread water. Each workshop is based on you. What you do know, and perhaps more importantly, what you don’t know that you don’t know.
Whether you’re a complete novice just starting out, or a life long photographer looking to gain the ultimate learning tool of ‘metacognition’ you can be assured that these photography workshops are designed to deliver a fantastic learning experience tailored to you, within beautiful landscapes, each one hand picked following multiple scouting trips.
Whichever workshop you choose, you are going to have a fantastic day of learning in a wonderful landscape.
Full Day Workshops include:
Pre-workshop questionnaire and photography assessment
A bespoke full day (7-8 hours) photography course in a pre-scouted and hand picked location
Location choices in two stunning UK National Parks
Transport, where required, from our initial meeting point
Adventure, excitement and artistic freedom to create
Each day is designed around you. So we'll cover what is necessary for your journey into your photography future. However, for example purposes, some of the types of modules we may look to cover include:
Composition; Exposure; Camera Modes; Focussing; Light & Luminance; Changing Realtionships through Focal Length; Long Exposure Photography; Reading Histograms plus much more than I can list here.
BUT whilst designed to give you invaluable knowledge and developed skills, the biggest goal is always to encourage and develop a freedom to allow for photographic creativity.
Your own camera equipment is essential and a tripod is highly recommended. We will, however, discuss what you have and any equipment requirements during the pre-course assessment. Where able, I'll be happy to provide peripheral equipment for you to use during the day.
Food: Many of the locations do not have stores/cafes etc close by. Food & Drink should be brought along, plus some easy to carry snacks and drink for your bag.
Good walking shoes/boots and appropriate dress for the forecasted weather.
The weather in the UK is part and parcel of shooting in the outdoors and shouldn’t put us off.
Each of my workshops have been thoroughly scouted to ensure suitability in adverse weather condition.
However, where conditions are predicted to be dangerous, or sufficiently poor enough to be unconducive to the learning experience, alternative dates will be discussed and offered.
In the very rare instance that LCP takes the decision to cancel a workshop a full refund will be offered.
Each workshop has a slightly different price based on location and date. Pricing in this way, rather than ‘one price for all’ allows me to offer cheaper alternatives on non-peak dates and for locations with lower associated costs.
You will receive a welcome email from me, usually within 72 hours of booking.
In this you'll find further details plus a simple pre-workshop questionnaire to fill out. I'll also invite you to share some of your recent photography with me and we'll arrange a pre-course call to run through the day and your photography.
If you book a bespoke one-to-one workshop, it is just you and I.
If you are booking a pre-planned (specific date) workshop then numbers are restricted to three photographers. However there are no minimum numbers.
